| Hello Chaotic Beta Community members!
Recently there have been many questions about our forums, both from longtime and new users. Many of these questions relate to spam. What is spam as defined by our forums? Are players allowed to tell other players to stop spamming? How far can those players go? What topics can be talked about on which forums?
These topics are covered in certain sections of the forum, but the goal of this topic is to have it all in one place, as well as answer some commonly asked questions about spam. There is a lot of information here, but I highly recommend that you read through it all. Just remember though - spamming of any kind is always against the rules in our Community.
Let's get right to it!
- What is the Chaotic forum's definition of spam?
Spam here on our forums is defined as posts or topics which take away from a forum or thread rather than contribute to it. Now, there are different types of spam, and they have a different severity depending on what it is.
- Going off-topic in a non Off-Topic forum or thread/posting in the wrong section
You should always stay on topic when in a forum or thread. For example - if I were to start a topic in Chaotic Universe talking about the latest episode of the Chaotic animated series, and then someone made a post saying, "Anyone want to trade for a Heptadd?" - that is going off-topic from what the thread is originally about. If a player does this, it would be appropriate to politely and respectfully tell them that they're posting in the wrong section and let them know where they should post instead. There is no need to report this to a moderator unless it gets out of hand. Now, a few things need to be clarified about this type of spam. If there is a topic about Chaor, for instance, and someone makes a joke in that thread about Chaor or one of the posts in that thread, there is no need to jump all over that person. You should also keep Off-topic posts in the Off-Topic forums, as that is the whole point of those forums - to have a place for users to talk about topics not related to Chaotic as much as they want.
- Flooding/Double posting
Flooding is a form of spam where a user posts over and over again. Now, this can be minor (double posting) or severe (posting over and over again to raise post count or just to annoy other players). If someone posts a reply to their own post, AKA double posts, it is okay to politely remind them to not do this, and to use the Edit button. The function of the Edit button is for players to go back and edit their own posts, in order to remove the need for double posting. This does not need to be reported to a moderator unless it gets out of hand.
If a player begins to flood a thread or an entire forum with multiple posts and threads over and over again, and they do not stop even after being asked, please report this to a moderator. Flooding can be very serious, as it can result in an entire page of a forum showing threads from only one user. If you are reported to be doing this, depending on the severity, it can result in a severe warning or even a banning of your account.
- Trolling/Flamewars
Trolling is when a user makes a post with the sole purpose of insulting another user, or the topic of the thread. It includes but is not limited to: provoking other users to respond with insults/personal attacks; provoking fans of a particular item, whether it be part of Chaotic, or something Off-Topic like a particular game, movie, topic, etc., making misleading topic titles; or posting false information as fact. Trolling can be a serious offense and should be reported to the moderators, especially if it starts causing a fight or flamewar. Talking about religion and politics can fall under this, as they nearly always result in a war of arguments and insults. That's why talking about religion and politics on our forums are against the rules. Basically, you should always follow this rule - if you don't have something constructive to add to a topic, then don't post anything at all.
- Posting just to raise post count
Posting just to raise post count is strictly against the rules. There are many reasons for this. One is that it makes it unfair for those who have risen their post counts by making real, meaningful posts. Another is that it adds clutter to a particular thread or forum that makes it very hard to read. Raising your forum member level is a reward for Community members who make real, genuine posts. Once you reach Tribe Member or higher, it's a great feeling if you know you've done so without spamming.
- What should I do if someone else spams in the forums?
Spamming of any kind is against our rules in the Chaotic forums. If it's a light type of spam, such as a one word or double post, or something similar to that, then letting that person know is fine. It is highly recommended that you tell them via a Private Message instead of posting it in the forum itself. This helps to cut down on what I like to call "Counter Spam Spam" - which is where someone spams while telling someone else to stop spamming. There is no need to report light spamming. Most of the times if a person (especially a new user) is told politely and respectfully that what they are doing is against the rules, or a type of spam, that person will be thankful and correct their mistake.
For a more severe type of spam, such as flooding the forums or trolling, it is highly recommended that you use the Report button found on every post in the forums. Clicking on that will allow you to send a forum report on that specific post to the moderators, where we can see it and deal with it. You can also submit a Helpdesk ticket or send a Private Message to a moderator if it's extremely serious.
Now, having said that, there are a couple of things to note here. It is the job of the moderators and Chaotic staff to moderate the forums and punish any users who break the rules. Sometimes a moderator will let a user know publicly that they have broken a rule, and sometimes a moderator will send a user a private message about it. Just because you don't see someone being "punished" in the public forums does not mean that it doesn't happen. It's up the moderators to decide how to deal with a broken rule, and whether it is brought to light to the general Community or not.
- I want to help stop spamming in the forums. What can I do?
We always want to encourage our Community members to help make the forums a better place for everyone. The Report button is a very important feature. It is there so that you can report something to the moderators so they can see it sooner than coming across it while browsing the forums.
If you see someone breaking a rule, or spamming in some way, it's okay to tell them that what they're doing is incorrect, and point them in the right direction. However, and this is extremely important, if you tell someone they're breaking the rules, you MUST do so in a polite and respectful way, free of insults and rudeness. Also, if one person tells someone they're breaking the rules, or that they should post in a different section/not double post/whatever it may be, do not reiterate what the original Community member said. It is enough for one person to tell the other that they are breaking the rules. If a bunch of people respond saying, "Yeah! You broke the rules!" not only is that a form of trolling - that in itself is also spam. The preferred way to deal with someone breaking the rules on our forums is to alert the moderators or staff. If you want to let someone know they're breaking the rules, only one person needs to say anything, and it must be done in a polite and respectful way. There have been times where someone spams and then another player jumps in and insults the 'spammer' and starts a fight. This is not allowed. There are no exceptions to this rule. Remember the old adage - two wrongs don't make a right. That goes for our forums as well.
- What is each section of the forums about and what is allowed to be talked about there?
As you all know, we have several different sections in our forums. Below will be a breakdown of each section so there will be no confusion about what belongs where.
- Announcements and News: Official information and news will be posted here. Please check regularly for updates!
The Announcements and News section is exactly what it says - a place for moderators (usually Chaotic|Blargers) to post announcements of all types related to Chaotic. The newest announcement is always shown on the front page of the ChaoticGame.com Website, but we still encourage all players to check here as often as possible, since only one announcement is shown on the front page of the site at a time. Only moderators and staff members are allowed to post here. Community members are NOT allowed to post here at any time, under any circumstance.
- Tournaments & TCDOP.com: Discuss offline tournaments, events, organized play, and TCDOP.com here!
The newly renovated and open to public posting Tournaments & TCDOP.com forum is where Chaotic|Dragonix and other moderators will post information about upcoming offline tournaments, organized play events and TCDOP.com information. This is also where Community members can discuss all manner of OP and offline Tournament related topics. Just be sure that you do not post any personal information such as where you live or anything else in this forum (as with all forums). Posts here do count toward your post count.
- Getting Started - New Player Zone: Not sure how to get started playing Chaotic? Post all your new player questions here!
Getting Started is a section for new players to post questions they may have, whether it be about the website, Game Client, card game, forums, or any other questions a new player may have. It is very helpful (and extremely appreciated by the moderators!) when experienced players stop by this forum to help out the newer players. Posts here do count toward your post count.
- Introductions: Let's get this Chaotic party started! Introduce yourself here!
This is where new players (and staff members!) make their introductions to the Community. Feel free to stop by here and welcome to the new players to the online world of Chaotic! Posts here do count toward your post count.
- General Chat: Discuss general topics related to Chaotic here.
The General Chat section of the forums is one of the most visited sections. The point of this forum is to discuss general topics about Chaotic that don't fit in any other specific forum. For example, if you want to talk about the TV series, or about specific Creatures and their place in the story, or which Tribe is your favorite, do that in the Chaotic Universe forum. But, if you're talking about the game, forum updates, or just general 'Chaotic chatting' that covers a wide range of Chaotic topics in one - you can do this in General Chat. The General Chat forums have tended to be a gathering place for spam in the past. This is highly discouraged, as General Chat should be limited to any general topics about Chaotic only. Posts here do count toward your post count.
- Debates & Serious Chaotic Discussions: Want to have serious debates and discussions about Chaotic? Want a place where spam will not be tolerated on any level? This is your forum!
This section of the forums is one of the most unique forums in our Community. This is a place for Community members to engage in spirited, respectful debates about Chaotic, as well as participate in serious discussions related to all manner of topics concerning Chaotic. In this forum, spamming, and any other broken forum rules for that matter, will not be tolerated on any level. If you are found to be breaking the rules or spamming in this forum, your access to this forum will be removed. If you wish to participate in this forum, please let us know via this thread in General Chat. Posts here do not count toward your post count.
- Chaotic Universe: Discuss the Perim Story, Cartoon, Characters and Tribes, and speculate on the Cothica here!
Chaotic Universe is the place to discuss the story and lore of Chaotic as a whole, whether it be related to the cartoon show, the cards, or anything else officially story-related. This is also the place to discuss the various characters and Tribes of Perim. If you have a "What's your favorite Tribe/Creature?" type of thread, that goes here. Discussions of card mechanics do not go in this forum. Posts here do count toward your post count.
- Fan Fiction: Post your fan fiction stories here!
Fan Fiction is where you can post all of your Chaotic (or TC Digital!) related stories. This is your chance to flex your writing skills and show off your stories to the rest of the Community! You never know who'll be reading these stories.. many have been passed around to several people at the office here, to great enjoyment! Posts here do count toward your post count.
- Create-a-Card & Card Art: This is where you can share your Chaotic Card ideas with other Community members! All Create-a-Card threads will go here.
This forum is for any and call Create-a-Card threads and posts, as well as for posting any Card Art you have made. Feel free to experiment and show off your card ideas here! You never know who will be checking it out. Posts here do not count toward your post count.
- Off-Topic: Discuss all topics not directly related to Chaotic here.
The Off-Topic forum is the place to talk about anything that is NOT related to Chaotic. Want to discuss the latest video game you've played? Talk about movies, music, TV shows, or completely random and bizarre things? This is your place! The Off-Topic forum is the only place where one word replies or strange posts that make no sense are allowed. Even though a lot is tolerated here, the forum rules still apply - no trolling, flooding, inappropriate language or content will be allowed or tolerated. Posts here do not count toward your post count.
- Gameplay Tips, Card Discussion, and Strategies: For discussion of all online and offline gameplay, cards, sets, tips, strategies, and combos.
This is where all topics and questions about gameplay and strategies should go. If you want to find out how a certain card mechanic works, talk about that here. Also, if you want to discuss card mechanics, or talk about 'Which card type is your favorite?' - post those here as well. Posts here do count toward your post count.
- Army Builds: Post your Army builds here for suggestions and discussion from the community.
The Army Builds forum is where you can post army ideas, or list what are in your different online/offline armies. You can ask for suggestions here, get feedback on your armies and more! Just make sure that threads here have to do with Armies. Posts here do count toward your post count.
- Challenges, Battles, and Player-run Tournaments: Post general challenges, talk about recent battles, and host player-run tournaments here!
This is the forum where you can make challenges to other players other than using the Battledromes. You can also set up tournaments here and talk about upcoming and completed player-run tournaments, as well as talk about any Chaotic battles that you've taken part in. Posts here do not count toward your post count.
- Trading: Post here to discuss card trades with other players. Please do not post asking for free cards.
The Trading forum, which is one of the most popular areas on our entire forums, is for people to talk about card trades. You can set up trades with players here, discuss current and past trades, and more. We highly recommend that you use our Online Trade Sector for all online trading, as that is the only way we can officially support online trading. Posts here do not count toward your post count.
- Chaotic Teams: For discussion of all Teams and Team recruitment.
In Chaotic Teams, you can discuss anything Chaotic Team-related. This includes forming new teams, discussion between current teams, and more. You can set up team battles here in each individual team's thread, but please keep all Player-Run Tournaments to the Challenges, Battles, and Player-run Tournaments forum. Posts here do not count toward your post count.
- Helpdesk: Report technical issues and find answers to your technical questions here.
The Helpdesk forum is where you can report technical issues you find with the Website or Chaotic Game Clients. This can cover a wide amount of issues, such as troubles with Activation, misprinted offline cards, problems uploading and more. Our Customer Service team always checks the Helpdesk forums and provides answers there as often as possible. If you make a post here, please be sure to check to see when a CSR has replied to your post. Specific card bugs should go in the Bug Report forums. Posts here do count toward your post count.
- Bug Report: This forum is for the reporting of website, forum, and online gameplay bugs only. (If you require assistance with a technical issue, please post in the Helpdesk forum.)
This forum is for reporting bugs to our developers. This is for any type of online bug you may find in the Website, forums or Chaotic Game Clients. Specific card bugs should always go here. Chaotic|Rellik updates his Classic and New Chaotic Game Client bug lists here, so be sure to take a look at them when you can. Rellik and the developers go here often, checking out reports from our Community. Posts here do count toward your post count.
- Feedback and Suggestions: Post feedback and suggestions related to ChaoticGame.com here.
Feedback and suggestions about the entirety of the ChaoticGame.com experience are welcomed here, and looked at by the staff often. Please be sure that any feedback or suggestions you give are done so with respect to everyone, from your fellow Community members to the staff as well. Also, be sure to respect everyone's opinions, and don't get into arguments or start a flamewar. Doing this will result in an immediate closure of the thread at the very least. Posts here do count toward your post count.
Aside from the forums mentioned above, there are the ever-growing Archive forums, where older threads are moved and archived for reading. There are also two hidden forums for you all to mull over.. Hopefully this answers your questions about spam and the forums. If you ever have any other questions, feel free to ask any of the moderators at any time!

| I would really like to participate (and actively too ) in the debate section
I have one question though that I'd like you to answer, if possible
It's about double posting. I know not to do this as it could be considered bumping/spam but I was wondering about it being done in the fanfic section? I mean if you are posting two different chapters, I personally prefer to post them seperately, it makes it easier for my readers but sometimes it collaborates towards double posts. Or if I have something to say not to do with the chapter that exceeds a few lines, i.e The next chapter can't be up on normal schedule because of this, this and this, BUT I will do this, this and this... etc., so it might not just be one or two lines at the bottom of a post. Then I'd prefer to have it separate to the chapter so as not to cause confusion.
Is this okay, because I don't want to be double posting wrongly here... Thanks in advance |
