| So with the introduction of Mugic to the Chaotic Pad, we thought it would be helpful to give you a step by step walkthrough of how to play a Master Rules game.
Getting Started:
First you need to load your Chaotic Pad; I’m sure you guys know how to do this, but I’ll go through it anyway. Launch the Chaotic Patcher by running “Chaotic” (not the “Chaotic Pad”) and log in. Once you have done that, you will be in our starting area. If you have created Armies, they should be in a list on the right side of the screen. Using the scroll buttons, you can select the Army you wish to use. If you don’t have any Armies created, or don’t have any Armies with Mugic ready, go check out Chaotic|Teia’s post on getting started: Teia’s Post. Once you have selected the Army you wish to play with, make sure it’s highlighted and click the Auto-Challenge button (if you choose a non-Master Rules Army, these steps will not apply). If you wish to challenge a specific player, go check out Teia’s post once again (isn’t she helpful!): Teia’s Post.
Pre-Combat
For the purposes of this walkthrough, we will assume that you are the active player. You will start the game in the Pre-Combat Move phase, and you should see this icon in the top center of your screen:

This means that you have priority to play a Mugic Card or use an activated ability. If you choose not to do so, you must press the Pass Button. Once you have passed or played, the icon should change, indicating that it is your opponents turn to either play a Mugic card or pass:

Things will continue back and forth until there have been two passes in a row. Once that has happened the effects on the burst will resolve and you will see this icon:

This means that it is time for you to move one of your Creatures. To move a Creature click it and then click the space you wish to move it to. Remember: if you begin a move which you wish to cancel, click the Move Action Icon in the lower left hand corner of your screen, which should be lit up blue. Once you make the move of your choice, press the Play Button. Once you have made your move, you will start another Burst and will once again see the green Pre-Combat Burst icon and go through the steps of a burst again.
If your move was into an empty space, you will see the Pre-Combat Move icon again, and if you choose to move into another space you will see the Pre-Combat Burst icon and have the option to play Mugic or pass again. If you have moved once and wish to end your turn, you should see the Finish Turn Button, which you can press to finish your turn. Since this is the first turn of our walkthrough game though, this isn’t an option! Your first move had to be attacking a Creature, and once the Pre-Combat Burst ends you will see this icon, assuming that you have won the iniative check at your Location:

This means that it is your turn to play an Attack Card, to choose the Attack Card you wish to play, simply click it. If you wish to cancel your choice, click the Attack Action Icon and you will be allowed to choose a new Attack Card. Once you are happy with your Attack Card selection, press the Play Button. Once you’ve done so, your top center icon will change to this:

You are now able to follow up your attack with Mugic or an activated ability. If you don’t wish to play one at this time, press the Pass Button and you will see this icon, which means that it is your opponents turn to play Mugic:

Once you and your opponent have finished that Burst (indicated by two consecutive passes), the effects on it will resolve and you will see this icon:

Indicating that it is your opponent’s turn to play an attack. Once your opponent has attacked, a new burst will start and you will each have the opportunity to play Mugic again. The game will continue back and forth like this until one Creature’s energy is completely drained and it is sent to the discard pile. Once this has occurred, the top center icon will change to this:

You may now play Mugic or pass once again. Once you have taken an action, it will become your opponent’s turn, as indicated by this:

Once that Burst has resolved, it will become the Post-Combat Move step, which means you are allowed to move your remaining Creatures with legal moves available to them. This step is indicated by this icon:

If you choose to make a move, it will trigger the Post-Combat Burst step again, and you should see the appropriate icon in the top center of your screen. Once you have made all of your moves, press the Finish Turn Button to end your turn! Now it is your opponent’s turn to move and you should see this icon:

Final Notes:
Alright, that should help everyone get a little better grasp on how Mugic has changed the gameplay. Please remember that if you have any questions, this thread is a great place to ask them. Good luck out there!

| | Excellent post for new players to read. Hopefully this decreases the average game length. |

| There's something I want to know about Master Rules. Does Master Rules forbid the destruction of both engaged creatures unless one sacrifices itself to destroy the other?
I'm wondering because of a debate that is going on in the Bug Section.
There is a battle with Van Bloot(35 energy) and Barathe Beyond(15 energy). Barathe uses Inferno Gust and both players use Cannon Of Casualty. Van Bloot survives with 5 energy,
The burst would go through like this: Inferno Gust, triggered Recklessness, Cannon Of Casualty, and Cannon Of Casualty.
The burst should resolve like this: Cannon Of Casualty deals 20 damage to Van Bloot, Cannon Of Casualty destroys Barathe, Recklessness and Inferno Gust doesn't happen because Barathe is gone. That is correct, right?
However, some players(including the one who posted it) think that both creatures should have been destroyed. Am I right, or are the players who say that both creatures should have been coded right? |

How do i change by deck so it can play master rules? |

| | hmmm...that raises the question for me too....is there supposed to be a check mark on teh silver square next to master rules in teh chaotic pad interface above the auto challenge? if so then I'm in the same boat...I can't seem to turn it on either....(hence my problem with trying to use mugic and creature abilities and so on...) |

| | Is there a number of games "cutoff" before the master rules are accessible? I guess that would be a better way to phase it, since I just started playing it and only have about 30 games in the bucket. |
